A Level Tutoring for Every Awarding Body

“A Level Biology” is not one exam. Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR each set their own papers, weightings and practical arrangements, and a student prepared for the wrong structure is prepared for the wrong exam. Every lesson starts from your board and your specification code.

Short answer

A Level preparation is offered online, one-to-one.

One-to-one lessons are 90 minutes long and start at USD 95 per lesson; lessons are booked singly or in packages.

Why the board matters more than the subject name

Across Africa, A Levels are taken through four awarding bodies. Cambridge International is the most widespread in international schools; Pearson Edexcel’s International A Level is common in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Egypt; and British-curriculum schools that follow the English system often use AQA, OCR or Pearson’s UK A level. They share subject names and not much else.

The practical differences are large. Pearson’s International A Level is modular — units sat in January, June or October, re-sittable, with the best result counting — while Cambridge and the UK boards are linear, with papers sat at the end. Cambridge examines practical skills in a timetabled laboratory paper; AQA and OCR report a separate practical endorsement; Pearson examines practical skills on paper. The same grade can therefore represent quite different preparation.

General patterns across the boards; individual subjects vary. Each A Level subject page shows the exact papers for every board that offers it, with a link to the specification and the date it was checked.

What the lessons work on

  • Your specification, paper by paper

Lessons are mapped to your board’s specification code and to the papers you will actually sit, including optional routes your school has chosen.

  • Mark schemes and examiner reports

A Level marks are won by precise wording. Students work from their own board’s mark schemes and examiner reports, not a generic answer style.

  • Unit planning on modular routes

On Pearson’s International A Level, which units to sit in which series — and which to re-sit — is a strategic decision worth planning early.

  • Predicted grades and UCAS

UK applications are made on predicted grades. Lessons in the first year target the school assessments those predictions rest on.

How A Level preparation works

Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.

  1. Free intro call

Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. Starting point

Your starting point is reviewed before the study plan is finalised. The exact method depends on the programme and is agreed on the intro call — for some students that means a timed section, for others it means reading a recent score report or a piece of marked work. We will tell you which applies to you before you book anything, rather than describing a process here that may not be the one you get.

  3. Written plan

You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which A Level sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.

  4. Lessons and review

Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.

Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel (International A Level and UK A level), AQA and OCR, for the subjects listed on this site. Each subject page names the boards that actually award it — not every subject is offered by all four.

With the free intro call. For A Level the starting method is agreed there — often a recent marked paper or a timed past-paper section from your own board — before the plan is written.

No. A Level is taught one-to-one, because students on different boards and specifications are effectively preparing for different exams.

Yes, and it is worth doing early: a change of board can change the number of papers, the practical arrangements and whether coursework exists. The subject pages show exactly what changes.

Widely, including in North America, Europe and across Africa, though each university sets its own entry requirements. US universities may additionally ask for SAT or ACT scores.
