TR-YOS Preparation for Universities in Türkiye
TR-YOS (officially written TR-YÖS) is the central exam ÖSYM runs for international students applying to Turkish universities. It is eighty questions of numerical reasoning and mathematics — no language, no science — which makes it very trainable for a student who starts early.
Short answer
TR-YOS preparation is offered online, one-to-one or in a group class.
One-to-one lessons are 90 minutes long and start at USD 80 per lesson; the group course runs 54 lessons of 90 minutes for USD 1,050, and a class never takes more than 6 students.
Group classes next begin on 1 December 2026.

What TR-YOS is
TR-YOS is ÖSYM’s Foreign Student Exam, used by Turkish universities to admit international students. It is one route among several: each university’s senate decides what it accepts from applicants abroad — TR-YOS scores, secondary-school grades, national exam results or international results such as SAT, ACT, A Level or IB — and foundation universities may also set an exam of their own. Requirements and score thresholds differ from one university to the next.
Türkiye is an established study destination for students from across Africa, and for many state-university programmes TR-YOS is the most direct way to apply.
How TR-YOS is structured
| Part | What the ÖSYM guide says |
|---|---|
| Numerical Aptitude Test | 40 multiple-choice questions, five options each |
| Basic Mathematics Test | 40 multiple-choice questions, five options each |
| Scoring | Each wrong answer cancels a quarter of a right one; the two tests are weighted 45% and 55% and reported on a 100–500 scale |
| Session | One sitting of 100 minutes; the score is valid for two years |

What the lessons work on
Numerical Aptitude as a set of patterns
The Numerical Aptitude questions look varied but draw on a limited set of structures. Learning to recognise them turns guessing into method — and, because wrong answers cost marks, it also teaches when to leave a question blank.
Mathematics without gaps
The mathematics is not advanced, but it is broad, and a single weak topic — ratios, absolute value, exponents — costs several questions.
Geometry by construction
Drawing the right auxiliary line solves most geometry questions. It is taught as a habit, question by question.
Full papers under time
Eighty questions in the time allowed is a pacing problem; full timed practice tests are part of the plan from the middle of the course.
How TR-YOS preparation works
Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.
Free intro call
Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.
Diagnostic
You sit a free full-length diagnostic in the real exam format before any lesson is booked. It produces a starting score and, more usefully, an error profile: which question types are costing marks, whether the problem is content or timing, and which sections need a specialist. The plan is written from that rather than from an estimate. It is taken online at a time you choose, so nobody has to travel to a centre to find out where they stand.
Written plan
You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which TR-YOS sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.
Lessons and review
Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.
