A Level Tutoring for Students in Nigeria

Cambridge International A Levels open two doors from Nigeria: Direct Entry to a Nigerian university through JAMB, and entry to UK universities through UCAS. The two run on different calendars, and in 2026 the Cambridge results arrived after JAMB’s Direct Entry window had closed. This page sets the dates side by side; lessons are live online, one-to-one and taught in English.

A Levels and the Nigerian admissions system

JAMB lists Cambridge A Level and foreign GCE A Level among the qualifications it accepts for Direct Entry, alongside the A Level certificates of IJMB and JUPEB. Cambridge describes the route for its own students: at least two Cambridge International A Level passes and five IGCSE or O Level passes from no more than two sittings allow a student to apply for Direct Entry into Level 200, with the Direct Entry form obtained from JAMB. JAMB and Nigerian universities can verify Cambridge results through Cambridge’s own system.

The difficulty is timing. Under JAMB’s 2026 manual, Direct Entry forms were on sale from 2 March to 25 April, while Cambridge released June-series A Level results to schools on 11 August. A student in the final A Level year therefore cannot register for Direct Entry with results in hand that year, and has to choose in January and February how to keep the Nigerian option open.

The Cambridge series that matter in Nigeria

Cambridge International sets two exam series a year for AS and A Level. The dates below are from Cambridge’s 2026 calendar; schools receive the 2027 dates from Cambridge and pass them on. Pearson Edexcel International A Levels, also taken in Nigeria, run their own series and are not covered here.

Cambridge A Level and JUPEB as routes to Direct Entry

JUPEB and A Levels both lead to Direct Entry at Level 200, but they are taken in different places and serve different purposes. IJMB is also on JAMB’s list; confirm its current arrangements with JAMB and the university.

An A Level timeline for a student in Nigeria finishing in June 2027

This is the order for a student sitting final A Levels in the June 2027 series and applying both to Nigerian universities and through UCAS. UCAS dates are for 2027 entry; the JAMB and Cambridge dates follow the 2026 pattern, because the 2027 dates had not been published when this page was checked.

  1. By 15 October 2026: UCAS for Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine

The deadline is 18:00 UK time, which is also 18:00 in Nigeria while the UK is on summer time. It also covers most veterinary and dentistry courses.

  2. By 13 January 2027: the main UCAS deadline

The equal-consideration deadline is 18:00 UK time, which is 19:00 in Nigeria once the UK is back on GMT. Offers made before results are conditional on them.

  3. January and February: the UTME decision

To keep a Nigerian place open for the same year, register for the UTME (26 January to 28 February in 2026) and declare that A Level results are awaited; JAMB’s 2026 manual allows an upgrade to Direct Entry only in that case. Schools also make June-series entries in this period.

  4. March and April: Direct Entry forms

JAMB’s Direct Entry window (2 March to 25 April in 2026) suits students who already hold A Level results, for example from an earlier series. They upload A Level and O Level results at registration, and JAMB advises pre-verifying the qualification first.

  5. Late April to mid-June: the June series

Revision is planned backwards from your own timetable, which your exams officer issues. Some components, AS and A Level Art & Design among them, are taken before the main timetabled period.

  6. August: results and confirmation

In 2026 Cambridge released June-series A Level results to schools on 11 August, with statements of results despatched in late August. UK offers are confirmed on these results, and JAMB accepts a statement of results in lieu of a certificate within three years of the award.

  7. September to November: the retake option

A student who needs a higher grade can re-sit in the November series. In 2026 retake entries from the June series closed on 21 September, with exams from late September to mid-November.

What lessons from Nigeria take into account

  • O Level credits still count

Direct Entry needs O Level credit passes as well as A Levels, from no more than two sittings. A student still missing a credit, for example in English or mathematics, should plan for it alongside the A Level work.

  • Older Cambridge certificates

JAMB’s 2026 manual asks applicants with pre-2020 Cambridge certificates to go to Cambridge for verification, which may take up to 28 days. Start early if your O Level or A Level results are from before 2020.

  • West Africa Time, all year

Nigeria stays on UTC+1, so lessons keep the same slot through the year. UK deadlines fall at the same hour in Nigeria during UK summer time and an hour later in winter.

  • Lessons in English, one-to-one

A Level is taught one-to-one, from your board’s specification. A tutor who can also explain in French or Arabic is confirmed case by case, never promised.

What we do not claim

We are not affiliated with JAMB, Cambridge International, JUPEB, IJMB or any university, and we have no partnership with any Nigerian school. We do not register students with JAMB or verify results; we teach A Level subjects and help you plan around the rules these bodies publish. Confirm every rule with JAMB and the university before you register.

How A Level preparation works

Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.

  1. Free intro call

Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. Starting point

Your starting point is reviewed before the study plan is finalised. The exact method depends on the programme and is agreed on the intro call — for some students that means a timed section, for others it means reading a recent score report or a piece of marked work. We will tell you which applies to you before you book anything, rather than describing a process here that may not be the one you get.

  3. Written plan

You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which A Level sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.

  4. Lessons and review

Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.

Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers. If yours is not here, ask us.

Yes, through Direct Entry registered with JAMB. JAMB’s 2026 rule is at least five O Level credit passes from no more than two sittings, at least two of them at A Level, and Cambridge describes two A Level passes with five IGCSE or O Level passes as the route into Level 200. Universities set their own course requirements, so confirm them with JAMB and the university.

Not with a Direct Entry form bought after results, because in 2026 the window closed on 25 April. JAMB’s 2026 manual allows an upgrade from the UTME to Direct Entry only for candidates who declared at UTME registration that their A Level results were awaited. Otherwise, register for Direct Entry the following year with results in hand. Check the 2027 rules with JAMB.

It depends on where you are going. JUPEB is normally one academic session at a university centre, and a pass leads to Direct Entry into 200 level in a Nigerian university. A Levels also lead to Direct Entry and are listed by UK universities for direct entry. We tutor A Level subjects; we do not run JUPEB or IJMB programmes.

Yes. The University of Manchester, for example, lists three GCE A-levels for applicants from Nigeria, while WASSCE applicants need a recognised foundation programme first. For 2027 entry, UCAS deadlines are 15 October 2026 for Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine courses and 13 January 2027 for most others, at 18:00 UK time.

Start with the free intro call, a conversation about your board, specification codes, series and destinations. Lessons are then one-to-one, live online, taught in English and booked in Nigerian time, mapped to the papers you will actually sit.
