International Exam Preparation for Students in Côte d’Ivoire
In Côte d’Ivoire, pupils sit the BEPC at the end of Troisième and the baccalauréat at the end of Terminale, both run by the Direction des Examens et Concours (DECO); others follow the French programme, the IB Diploma or an American curriculum. We prepare students for the international exams that sit alongside those routes, live online and in English, and plan them around the Ivorian exam calendar and the Études en France deadlines.

How school ends in Côte d’Ivoire
Most pupils meet two national exams, both run by DECO for the Ministry of National Education (MENAET). Some schools follow international programmes instead, and each route leads to universities in a different way.
| Stage | Exam | Run by | What it is used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| End of lower secondary (Troisième) | BEPC (Brevet d’études du premier cycle) | DECO (MENAET) | Certifies the first cycle of secondary school; sat in the same session as the Test d’orientation en classe de Seconde |
| End of upper secondary (Terminale) | Baccalauréat: général, technique or artistique | DECO (MENAET) | The school-leaving diploma; outside the country it is used, for example, for a DAP through Études en France or an application to Université Laval in Canada |
| French programme | French baccalauréat | French Ministry of National Education | Taught in Abidjan schools of the AEFE network, homologated up to Terminale; applications to France go through Parcoursup |
| IB Diploma | IB final exams, May session | International Baccalaureate | Offered by IB World Schools in Côte d’Ivoire, including in Abidjan; check each school’s language of instruction |
| American curriculum | No national exit exam; the school’s own transcript | The school | Used for US applications, often with SAT or ACT scores; at least one Abidjan school also offers the IB Diploma |

Where students apply, and what is usually asked
Requirements differ by university and by course, and they change between admissions cycles. The rows below describe the general pattern; for any university on your list, check the university’s international entry requirements for the year you apply.
| Destination | Route and what is usually asked | Tests to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| France | For the first year of a Licence, holders of the Ivorian BAC and pupils in Terminale make a Demande d’admission préalable (DAP) through Études en France; Ivorian pupils preparing the French baccalauréat choose courses on Parcoursup and also follow the Études en France procedure, which in Côte d’Ivoire includes an interview that Campus France says is not an exam | Set by each university and course; for a course taught in English, check whether an English test is asked |
| Canada | Université Laval, for example, lists the Ivorian baccalauréat as the minimum diploma for its undergraduate programmes; some programmes add their own criteria, such as above-average results or a minimum level of French | A French or English test where the university asks for one |
| United States | The full secondary-school record, essays and references; some selective universities require test scores again, others are test-optional | SAT or ACT where required; TOEFL or IELTS where the university asks for an English test; AP scores can support an application |
| Morocco | Students from across Africa study in Moroccan public universities through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), which also awards Kingdom of Morocco scholarships; French is the working language of Moroccan public higher education | Confirm the current procedure with AMCI and the university |

Where the exam calendars collide
DECO had not published its 2027 calendar when this page was checked, and the latest calendar on its site is for the 2025 session, so the Ivorian rows show the 2025 pattern. The SAT, AP, Études en France and French baccalauréat dates are for 2026–27.
| When | Ivorian and French exams and deadlines | International exams in the same window |
|---|---|---|
| October–December | BAC and BEPC registration (14 October to 6 December in 2024, for the 2025 session); the Études en France DAP opens on 1 October 2026 | SAT on 7 November and 5 December 2026 |
| January–March | Parcoursup registration for pupils preparing the French baccalauréat (January to March 2027) | The regular registration deadline for the 6 March 2027 SAT is 19 February 2027 (late registration until 23 February) |
| Late March–mid-May | BEPC physical education tests (31 March to 11 April in 2025) and BAC physical education tests (28 April to 9 May in 2025); universities answer DAP applications before 30 April 2027 | SAT on 1 May 2027; AP Exams 3–7 and 10–14 May 2027; IB May examination session |
| Late May | BEPC orals and practicals (21–24 May in 2025) and written papers (26–30 May in 2025); DAP applicants reply before 31 May 2027 | AP late testing 17–21 May 2027 |
| June | BAC orals and practicals (in 2025, 3–13 June for the BAC technique and 10–13 June for the général and artistique) and written papers (16–20 June in 2025); in France, the written exams of the French baccalauréat général run from 14 to 21 June 2027; the Parcoursup main admission phase begins | SAT on 5 June 2027 |
| July | BAC results (7 July in 2025); the Parcoursup main admission phase ends (July 2027) | No SAT, AP or IB exams, which leaves room for focused SAT, TOEFL or IELTS work |
Sources: DECO, Calendrier général des examens scolaires, session 2025; Campus France, Études en France procedure for 2027–28; French Ministry of National Education, BO spécial of 25 August 2026 (dates for France; French schools abroad may differ); College Board, SAT dates and AP exam dates. Sitting international tests from Côte d’Ivoire
The official IELTS centre listing shows a British Council test centre in Abidjan offering IELTS Academic, General Training and the UKVI versions on computer. For the SAT and TOEFL, the official College Board and ETS search tools are the only reliable lists of current centres and seats; check them before choosing a date, because a full centre can change the whole plan.
If the 2027 session follows the 2025 pattern, a pupil in Terminale meets BAC physical education tests from late April, orals and practicals in the first half of June and written papers in mid-June, so the SAT dates in November, December and March come before the busy weeks, while the May and June dates fall inside them. Pupils in Troisième sit the BEPC in late May. Students applying to France also work to Études en France deadlines, which start in October.
How online lessons work from Côte d’Ivoire
Send an enquiry
Write in English, French or Arabic, with the school route, the exams in view and the universities on the list. We answer in English, French or Arabic.
Free intro call
A conversation, not a test, about the exam dates, the destinations and how much time school leaves. For the SAT, a free full-length diagnostic comes before any plan; for IB and AP, the first lesson includes an assessment.
A plan around the Ivorian calendar
Lessons are scheduled in Côte d’Ivoire time. The country stays on Greenwich Mean Time (UTC+0) all year with no summer time, so a lesson time does not move between seasons.
Live lessons in English
Lessons are live online and taught in English, which is also the language of the SAT, TOEFL and IELTS. A tutor who can also explain a point in French or Arabic is confirmed case by case and never promised.
