What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website places in your browser. Local storage is a similar store that stays in your browser and is not sent with each request. This page covers both.

No advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking cookies are set. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are switched off permanently, whatever you choose: there are no ads on this site.
How Google Analytics runs before you choose
The Google Analytics tag (gtag.js, loaded from Google’s servers) is on every page for every visitor, so your browser contacts Google on each page you open. Before the tag does anything, the site sets Google’s Consent Mode from your stored choice: if you have not accepted, analytics storage is denied. In that state Google Analytics sets no cookie and reads none, and sends only the cookieless pings listed above, which Google uses to estimate visit numbers.
Choosing “Accept all” switches analytics storage on in the same page view, and only then are the _ga cookies set. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation stay denied in every state.
Changing your choice
The “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner so you can choose again. Choosing “Necessary only” switches analytics storage off at once and deletes the _ga cookies already set. You can also clear this site’s data in your browser: the stored choice and the cookies are removed, and the banner appears again on the next page.
Declining, or not answering, does not restrict any part of the site.
Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the cookies or other data the site stores in your browser change.
