LNAT Preparation for UK Law Schools

The LNAT does not test law. It tests whether you can read an argument closely and build one of your own under time pressure — which is a skill students trained to memorise often have to learn from the beginning.

Short answer

LNAT preparation is offered online, one-to-one.

One-to-one lessons are 90 minutes long and start at USD 95 per lesson; lessons are booked singly or in packages.

No group class runs for this exam.

From USD 95 per lesson

Your lessons are taught by Kerem Demir, who teaches LNAT.

  • 42 questions on 12 passages
  • One essay from a choice of three

What the LNAT is, and who asks for it

The National Admissions Test for Law is required by a group of UK universities for their undergraduate law degrees, among them Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, LSE, King’s College London, Durham, Bristol, Glasgow, Nottingham and SOAS. Each university decides how much weight to give it, and the list changes occasionally, so the LNAT’s own list is the one to check before registering.

Section A produces the score out of 42. Section B, the essay, is not marked by the LNAT: it is sent to the universities you apply to, who read it themselves. That makes the essay part of your application rather than part of a score — and it is often read closely at the most selective universities.

What the lessons work on

  • Reading an argument, not a passage

Identifying the conclusion, the premises and the assumptions the author does not state — the questions are built around exactly these.

  • Wrong answers that look right

LNAT distractors are usually true statements that do not follow from the passage. Learning to reject a true-but-irrelevant option is most of Section A.

  • The essay in forty minutes

Taking a position, dealing honestly with the strongest objection, and finishing. Essays are written under time and reviewed line by line.

  • Breadth of reading

The essay questions range across politics, ethics, education, technology and society. Regular reading of serious journalism, discussed in lessons, builds the material to argue with.

How LNAT preparation works

Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.

  1. Free intro call

Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. Starting point

Your starting point is reviewed before the study plan is finalised. The exact method depends on the programme and is agreed on the intro call — for some students that means a timed section, for others it means reading a recent score report or a piece of marked work. We will tell you which applies to you before you book anything, rather than describing a process here that may not be the one you get.

  3. Written plan

You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which LNAT sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.

  4. Lessons and review

Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.
