SAT Preparation for Students in Egypt

Since June 2025 the SAT has again been held inside Egypt, at weekend test centres in Greater Cairo, Alexandria and other cities. For an American-diploma student the score can count twice: for US applications and for Egyptian universities through the coordination office. This page covers the dates, the score route to Tansik and a timeline that serves both; lessons are live online and taught in English.

SAT dates for 2026–27, and what each one suits in Egypt

When this page was checked on 8 October 2026, College Board’s test centre search listed centres in Egypt for every remaining weekend date: in Cairo, New Cairo, Giza, 6th of October City, Alexandria, Mansoura, Port Said, Assiut, Luxor, Hurghada and other cities. For 5 December 2026, several centres in Cairo, New Cairo, Giza and 6th of October City already showed no seats, so register as early as your plan allows.

How an SAT score reaches an Egyptian university

American-diploma holders apply to Egyptian public universities through the Ministry of Higher Education’s coordination for equivalent certificates (Tansik), which counts qualifying school subjects together with an admissions test. The points below come from the Ministry’s 2026 announcement; confirm the rules for your own year before booking a test.

  • Scores travel electronically, from College Board

In 2026 the Ministry asked American-diploma students who had sat the SAT to send an electronic copy of their results from their College Board account directly to code 7437, Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering. A student whose SAT results did not arrive was not nominated and was removed from the applicant lists.

  • EST and ACT count only as approved equivalents

The same announcement treats the EST and the ACT as tests approved by the Ministry of Education and accepted by the Supreme Council of Universities as equivalents of the SAT, each with its own instructions. Which tests count, and from which students, is decided again by the Ministry; its 2022/2023 decision, for example, accepted the SAT only from students who sat it abroad and were resident there.

  • The SAT is back inside Egypt

The Ministry of Education announced the official relaunch of the SAT in Egypt from June 2025 under a protocol with College Board, and College Board launched the digital SAT in Egypt with the June 2025 administration, at its weekend test centres. Before choosing a centre in Egypt, confirm with the Ministry and Tansik that a sitting inside Egypt counts for your admission year.

  • The coordination runs in late summer

The 2026 coordination for equivalent Arab and foreign certificates opened on 24 August 2026. Students register their details and choices on the Tansik website, pay online and then hand in their original certificates in person; the geographic distribution rules use the place of residence recorded on the national ID card.

An SAT timeline for an American-diploma student in Egypt

This is the order that suits most students who apply to US universities, to Egyptian universities, or to both. The SAT and AP dates are for 2026–27; the coordination dates follow the 2026 pattern, because the 2027 dates had not been announced when this page was checked.

  1. Grade 10 or early Grade 11: diagnostic and plan

Start with the free full-length diagnostic, taken in Bluebook conditions. It gives a starting score and shows which question types are costing points; the plan, usually a few months of steady work alongside school, is built from it.

  2. Grade 11, March to June: a first sitting

For a student finishing school in 2028, the 6 March 2027 date comes well before the AP weeks of 3–7 and 10–14 May, and 5 June 2027 comes after them. The 1 May date falls two days before the first AP week, so it suits only a student with no AP Exams that year.

  3. Summer before Grade 12: the list and the re-sit decision

With a real score, the list becomes concrete: which US universities require a test again and which are test-optional, and which Egyptian faculties the student is aiming at. That decides whether a second sitting is needed, and on which date.

  4. Grade 12, November and December: US deadlines

For entry to a US university in autumn 2027, the dates that still fit are 7 November and 5 December 2026. MIT, for example, takes tests sat before 30 November for Early Action (due 1 November) and before 31 December for Regular Action (due 4 January).

  5. Grade 12, March to June: a last sitting for Egypt

A student who applies only to Egyptian universities still has the spring dates, because the coordination runs after the school year. Scores from the 5 June 2027 SAT are released on 21 June, well ahead of a coordination that opened on 24 August in 2026; confirm with Tansik which sittings count for your year.

  6. August: the equivalent-certificate coordination

Send the SAT results electronically as Tansik instructs, register on its website when the coordination opens, and hand in the original certificates. Keep the College Board account details to hand, because the score report is sent from it.

The ID you need on test day in Egypt

College Board’s ID rules set no special document for Egypt, so the general rules apply: the ID must be an original, physical document, photocopies and digital IDs shown on a phone are refused, and the SAT Student ID Form is accepted only at US test centres. A student who travels to another country to sit the SAT must bring a valid passport. Check the full list of acceptable documents on College Board’s ID requirements page well before test day.

How SAT preparation works

Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.

  1. Free intro call

Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. Diagnostic

You sit a free full-length diagnostic in the real exam format before any lesson is booked. It produces a starting score and, more usefully, an error profile: which question types are costing marks, whether the problem is content or timing, and which sections need a specialist. The plan is written from that rather than from an estimate. It is taken online at a time you choose, so nobody has to travel to a centre to find out where they stand.

  3. Written plan

You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which SAT sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.

  4. Lessons and review

Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.

Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers. If yours is not here, ask us.

Yes. College Board brought the digital SAT to Egypt with the June 2025 administration, and when checked on 8 October 2026 its test centre search listed centres in Egypt for every remaining 2026–27 date, mostly in Greater Cairo and Alexandria but also in Mansoura, Port Said, Assiut, Luxor, Hurghada and other cities. Registration is on College Board’s own site.

The Ministry of Education relaunched the SAT in Egypt from June 2025, and the 2026 coordination asked American-diploma students to send their SAT results electronically. But the Ministry decides each year which tests it accepts and from whom, and those decisions have changed before, so confirm the rule for your year with the Ministry of Education and Tansik before booking.

Electronically, from your College Board account. In 2026 the instruction was to send the results directly to code 7437, Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering, and students whose results did not arrive were not nominated. Check Tansik’s instructions for your year before sending.

We do not run an EST course. We do prepare students for the ACT, which the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council of Universities have approved as an equivalent of the SAT. Our SAT–ACT comparison sets out the differences between the two tests.

In English, the language of the SAT itself. You can write to us in English, French or Arabic, and whether a tutor can also explain points in Arabic is confirmed case by case, never promised.
