SAT dates for 2026–27, sat in Abidjan

On 8 October 2026, College Board’s test centre search listed centres in Côte d’Ivoire for every remaining weekend date, all of them in Abidjan and only a few per date, with seats still available. A pupil living elsewhere in the country has to plan the journey to Abidjan as well as the date, and a full centre leaves little choice, so register early.

An English-language test from a French-language school

The SAT is sat in English from the first question to the last. Reading and Writing is built entirely on English texts, and many Math questions are set in words, so for a pupil taught in French the difficulty is often less the mathematics than reading it in English at test speed. The free diagnostic shows which of the two is costing more points, and the plan starts there.

The lessons are taught in English, which is part of the preparation: the pupil gets used to working in the language of the test. Families can write to us in French, English or Arabic; whether a tutor can also explain a point in French is confirmed case by case, never promised.

An SAT timeline for a pupil finishing school in Côte d’Ivoire

This is the order that suits most pupils on the Ivorian BAC or the French baccalauréat who apply to US universities. DECO had not published its 2027 calendar when this page was checked, so the Ivorian dates follow the 2025 session; the French dates are those set for France in 2027.

  1. Seconde or early Première: diagnostic and an English check

Start with the free full-length diagnostic, taken in Bluebook conditions. It gives a starting score and shows where the points go; at the same time, check whether the universities on your list will also ask for an English test, so that both can be planned together.

  2. Première, March: a first sitting

For a pupil finishing school in 2028, 6 March 2027 is a calm date. Neither the BEPC nor the BAC falls in Première; pupils on the French programme sit the épreuve anticipée in French on 15 June and the one in mathematics on 21 June 2027 (dates for France), so a March sitting leaves June free for them.

  3. Summer after Première: the English test and the weak points

The long holiday is the time to sit TOEFL or IELTS, if needed, and to work on the question types the first SAT exposed. An English result in hand before Terminale keeps the autumn for the SAT and the applications.

  4. Terminale, November and December: the last useful sittings

For entry in autumn 2027, the dates that still fit US deadlines are 7 November and 5 December 2026. MIT takes tests sat before 30 November for Early Action (due 1 November) and before 31 December for Regular Action (due 4 January); Harvard accepts the November series for Restrictive Early Action and December SAT scores for Regular Decision.

  5. Terminale, January to July: the BAC comes after the applications

US regular applications close in early January, months before the BAC. In 2025 the BAC physical education tests ran from 28 April to 9 May, orals and practicals in June, written papers from 16 to 20 June and results on 7 July, so the 1 May and 5 June SAT dates are best left alone in Terminale.

The English test alongside the SAT

The SAT does not certify a level of English, and US universities decide for themselves whether they want a separate English test from a pupil schooled in French.

  • Schooling in French usually brings an English test into play

MIT, for example, strongly recommends an English test for applicants who have used English for fewer than five years or who do not speak it at home or at school, and lists TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, Cambridge English and the Duolingo English Test. Other universities word their rules differently; read each one.

  • Where to sit it

The official IELTS centre listing shows a British Council centre in Abidjan offering IELTS Academic on computer. For TOEFL, check ETS’s own test centre search for current centres and dates.

  • When to sit it

For Regular Action, MIT accepts English tests taken before 31 January, later than the December SAT. Even so, an English test sat in the summer after Première keeps it from competing with the SAT for the same autumn weeks.

  • Self-reported scores

MIT does not require official SAT or English test scores at the application stage and verifies them on enrolment. Check what each university on your list accepts before ordering official score reports.

Which SAT dates suit each school route in Côte d’Ivoire

Pupils in Côte d’Ivoire reach the SAT from different school systems, each with its own exam season. The aim is the same for all of them: keep the SAT out of the weeks when school exams are sat.

How SAT preparation works

Every lesson is live, online and 90 minutes long, scheduled in your own time zone. Lessons are taught in English, the language the exam is sat in.

  1. Free intro call

Fifteen minutes with an advisor, at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. Diagnostic

You sit a free full-length diagnostic in the real exam format before any lesson is booked. It produces a starting score and, more usefully, an error profile: which question types are costing marks, whether the problem is content or timing, and which sections need a specialist. The plan is written from that rather than from an estimate. It is taken online at a time you choose, so nobody has to travel to a centre to find out where they stand.

  3. Written plan

You receive a written plan built from your starting point and your test date: which SAT sections come first, how many lessons that realistically takes, and when full practice tests enter. Nobody is sold a fixed number of lessons before the gap is known.

  4. Lessons and review

Each lesson ends with set work and a target for the next one. Families receive progress notes, and the plan is re-read against every new score rather than followed blindly.

Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers. If yours is not here, ask us.

In Abidjan. When checked on 8 October 2026, College Board’s test centre search listed centres in Côte d’Ivoire for every remaining 2026–27 date, all of them in Abidjan. Registration is on College Board’s own site; check the search for your date, since the number of centres is small.

Yes. The free diagnostic shows whether the English reading or the mathematics is costing more points, and the plan follows from that. Lessons are taught in English, the language of the test; you can write to us in French, and whether a tutor can also explain in French is confirmed case by case.

Often, for a pupil schooled in French, but it depends on the university. MIT strongly recommends an English test for applicants who have used English for fewer than five years or who do not speak it at home or at school; other US universities set their own rules. Check each one before booking.

In Terminale, 7 November and 5 December 2026; in Première, 6 March 2027. In 2025 the BAC ran from physical education tests in late April to written papers in mid-June, so the 1 May and 5 June dates fall in the BAC season. DECO had not published the 2027 calendar when this page was checked.

College Board’s ID rules set no special document for Côte d’Ivoire, so the general rules apply: an original, physical ID, with photocopies and digital IDs refused. A pupil who travels to another country to sit the SAT must bring a valid passport. Check College Board’s ID requirements page before test day.
