What the diagnostic tells you
The diagnostic gives a starting score on the exam’s own scale and, more usefully, an error profile: which question types are costing points, whether the problem is content or timing, and which sections need a specialist. The study plan — how many lessons, in which order, with which tutor — is written from that.
It is taken online at a time you choose, so nobody has to travel anywhere to find out where they stand.
Which programmes have one
A free full-length diagnostic exists for SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, PTE, IELTS, TOEFL and TR-YOS. For IB, AP and IGCSE the first lesson is the assessment, because no single test stands in for a two-year syllabus. For the remaining programmes the starting method is agreed on the intro call. We would rather say that plainly than promise every student the same test.
